Emergencies
(especially cardiac emergencies such as cardiac arrests or heart attacks) can
strike anyone, anytime, irrespective of a person’s age or sex. No one can
predict the occurrence of a sudden cardiac arrest, all one can do is stay
prepared to face such emergencies. The best way to do so is by going for a CPR
class. For healthcare providers, it is the Basic Life Support Memphis class. CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation
which comprises of chest compressions and rescue breaths. Proper application of
the techniques can revive the life of a cardiac arrest victim.
For
training, always select an accredited training center such as the AHA
accredited CPR Memphis in Tennessee where certified instructors conduct the
classes through a series of audio and video lectures and hands-on practice.
Basic Life Support Classes- The Basic Life Support for Healthcare
Provider course is designed to prepare individuals working in healthcare, and

A sudden
cardiac arrest is a state in which the heart of a victim suddenly stops to beat
thus resulting in cessation of blood flow to the brain and other essential
organs. Death may occur if the heartbeat is not restored immediately. Sudden
cardiac arrest accounts for more than 382,000 deaths in the United States every
year. CPR and AED use through a bystander can ensure survival of cardiac arrest
victims. Some of the symptoms of a sudden cardiac arrest include: weakness,
dizziness, chest pain, shortness of breath, unresponsiveness, no pulse, etc.
Cardiac
arrest is fatal unless medical intervention is provided immediately. One should
follow the following steps in order to save a victim suffering from a sudden
cardiac arrest:
·
Call
for the emergency medical services by dialing 911
·
Perform
CPR with much focus on the chest compressions and one should carry on with it
until the arrival of emergency medical services
·
Defibrillation
with AED for restoration of normal heartbeat
·
Advanced
Life Support administered by professionals
·
Post
cardiac arrest care in a hospital setting
Cardiac
arrest is quite common and can happen to anyone regardless of age or sex. A
Basic Life Support training or a CPR training will enable you in using the
resuscitation techniques effectively which includes chest compressions that
helps blood move from the heart to the brain and internal organs and also mouth-to-mouth
ventilation which provides oxygen to the victim. Proper administration of the
techniques by a bystander during the sudden cardiac arrest doubles or triples a
victim’s chances of survival.
